The Farm – Shiiine On Weekender 2023

Sunday November 19th 2023

Our last concert of the year takes us to Butlins Minehead – situated across the street from Minehead Beach and the Bristol Channel, this casual resort is 1 km from the A39 road and 6 miles from Horner Woods in Exmoor National Park.

Early start today as we have to be in Minehead for around 3pm.

The Gold bus is off the road so we’re in the Silver bus…

Carl recently had an operation on the ligaments in his hand…

It was a great success and amazing that it had healed up in time for him to play today.

Time for breakfast…

🥴

Weather not great yet…

We stopped off at a Moto for coffee & a sandwich…

From here we had a 3 hour drive to the venue…

Time for the film…

Great film, certainly kept our minds off the journey…

Weather’s improving…

Some nice scenery as we were nearing Somerset…

We decided to stop off in the village of Watchet for our dinner…

The Star Inn…

Lovely pub, great food, cheerful and friendly staff

We ordered our food…

and sampled the local beer which is sourced from the nearby Nuttycombe brewery…

A 3.7% ABV Classic session bitter. 5 malts combine to make a full mouth feel that belies its low ABV. Mid – hopped with the Archer hop giving that classic British aroma whilst the Harlequin hop reinforces the smoothness of the bittering.

We had a room to ourselves!

Carl had the fish & chips…

While we all opted for the roast turkey…

We chatted at length to the pub landlord and ordered more beer, this time I went for the Otter Ale…

Decent drink. Nice malty fruity aroma and taste with a nice subtle sweetness to finish. Slight bitter aftertaste but enjoyable. Smooth and easy drinking session ale

All good things must come to an end so headed off back into the van…

We weren’t that far from the venue so we just had time to watch a bit of Blackadder…

Soon enough we arrived in Minehead…

The venue in the distance…

Not our hotel this time😟

This will do I suppose…

Time to go backstage…

Keith had arrived first…

The rider…

Peroni’s flagship beer, Nastro Azzurro, is a European pale lager. It dates back to 1963 and offers a mild, easy drinking experience, differentiated from other European lagers by its distinctive Mediterranean flavor profile.

Anyway, time to go on…

Going…

All Together Now

Going……

Fabulous crowd!!!

Time to explore the venue…

Gig was fantastic but we were all a bit worse for wear as you can probably see…

Gone………

Time for bed then off home the next day!

A great gig and a fitting way to finish the 2023 season!
